Not All Calories Are Created Equal
In a study on the effects of dietary composition during weight loss, researchers found a very low-carb diet, rather than a low-fat or low glycemic index diet, offered the best chance for keeping weight off. While many people lost weight on a low-fat diet, the vast majority gained the weight
back very quickly.
The reason these diets typically fail is because the dietary approach can actually slow a person’s metabolism to a level where its not burning calories efficiently. Thus, from a metabolic perspective the research concludes all calories are not alike. The type of food consumed is much more relevant to weight loss, than the number of calories because intake calories interact differently with your biology.
